In the 2019 State Budget, I fought for and won $4 million in funding to install noise barriers along Gympie Road in Aspley. These barriers have been making a massive difference in the lives of the families and community members who live along this busy thoroughfare and have been bearing the brunt of Gympie Road's extreme traffic noise.
Further, in 2023, the Queensland Government committed $5 million to install new concrete noise barriers along Gympie Arterial Road in Bald Hills as part of the Gympie Arterial Road and Strathpine Road Interchange Update. I also managed to secure further funding to also target the nearby Wing Street with barrier locations. These barriers will make a real difference to Bald Hills locals.
